Who We Are
Abia Community Manchester (ACM) is a registered non-profit organization supporting families of Igbo, Nigerian, and African heritage across Greater Manchester. Founded over five years ago, ACM has grown into a vibrant community of families dedicated to preserving culture, empowering individuals, and promoting inclusion. We provide a platform where members can connect, learn, and thrive — blending cultural pride with social and economic integration into British society.
We achieve our mission through a blend of cultural, educational, and social programs, including:
🎭 Cultural Preservation
Promoting Igbo and African arts, language, fashion, and music through community events and creative workshops.
👨👩👧 Family & Women’s Support
Providing wellbeing sessions, parenting support, and financial literacy training to strengthen families.
👩🏾🎓 Youth Empowerment
Organizing excursions, mentorship, and skill-building activities to help young people grow in confidence and identity.
💬 Health & Wellbeing
Hosting seminars and community health programs that address issues affecting Black and minority families — from mental health awareness to diabetes prevention.
🌍 Integration & Belonging
Supporting newcomers through language support, career transition programs, and cultural orientation sessions.
Over the next three years, ACM aims to:
Join us in celebrating culture, supporting families, and building a stronger, more connected community.
